Project Overview

H2Engineering partnered with the State of Florida to deliver the new East Entry Secure Vestibule at the Capitol, a 2,000‑square‑foot addition designed to strengthen safety while creating a dignified visitor experience. This high‑profile project required full MEPF engineering, security, telecom, AV consulting, and construction administration services, all seamlessly integrated with the existing Capitol Tower.

Working under a continuing services contract, the team began with a detailed review of as‑built documentation and a comprehensive site investigation to map legacy systems. HVAC integration was carefully planned within limited space, tying into the campus chilled water and hot water systems. Structural constraints demanded creative, out‑of‑the‑box solutions across all MEP systems, which were successfully executed during construction.

The scope included pressurization and climate‑controlled HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems designed for rapid response, robust electrical distribution and lighting, and integrated fire alarm and automation controls. Specialized consulting for security, telecommunications, and audiovisual systems ensured cohesive access control, surveillance, and public interface technologies.

The result is a fortified yet welcoming gateway that reflects the Capitol’s civic stature, enhances resilience, and supports the continuity of Florida’s governance.
