H2Engineering is delivering MEPF and telecommunications design, along with construction administration, for a transformative renovation of a 2,400 SF space in the IFAS Microbiology Building—aimed at boosting research capabilities and meeting the demands of evolving programs.
The project will bring ICBR Teaching Laboratory (Room 1014) up to BSL-2 laboratory standards and the Kelly Rice Lab (Room 1013) will be redesigned to mirror the functionality and layout of the adjacent teaching lab thereby reimagine the former magnetic spectrometer area for a new tenant. An Aquaculture Laboratory (Room 1012) was also designed and constructed to house specimens and conduct research for future advancements. Upgrades include modern HVAC, lighting, and electrical systems, a new corridor door, and the removal of outdated cabinetry and utilities. The Aquaculture also received its own redundant systems (generator, roof top air handler, and exhaust fan) to ensure the steady conditions needed for reliable scientific results and research.
Together, these improvements form part of a larger initiative to modernize, optimize, and future-proof the facility for cutting-edge research.
