Description
As part of a 5-year infrastructure improvement plan, H2Engineering was hired to provide mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection engineering for the nearly $28 million International Passenger Processing facility. The new facility will enable TLH to handle international flights and expand its cargo capabilities, positioning the airport as a gateway to northwest Florida.
As part of the project, H2Engineering was asked to assess the existing central plant to help determine the repair, replacement, and redundancy needs of the central plant equipment. Through the study it was determined that the central plant was adequate to handle the additional capacity, however, the equipment was not in optimal repair, and there was inadequate equipment redundancy for future operations. The city was presented with options and ultimately chose to upgrade the plant with new controls, two (2) new, 100% redundant, 480 ton, water-cooled chillers, new chilled water primary/secondary pumps, new heating water secondary pumps, new chilled/heating water piping, as required and new refrigerant purge system.
