H2Engineering is committed to sustainable design practices from both a design professional’s and owner’s perspective. Our standard practice is promoting sustainable design on all of our projects, whether attempting LEED certification or not. Our commitment has impacted not only our everyday work environment and the people that work in it but also our neighbors and the community around us. Our experience with the LEED process is more than just general knowledge; we understand how it works. Our firm has been a member of the USGBC since 2005 and currently has 3 LEED APs on our staff. Our own headquarters was awarded the first LEED Gold certification in Tallahassee. H2Engineering has gained valuable experience on LEED projects from serving as designers, LEED APs, commissioning authorities, and as an owner. We understand your objectives and the challenges you are faced with in achieving them. Our personal investment into our own facility exemplifies H2Engineering’s dedication to a sustainable built environment.
We take pride in the fact that we have worked on some of the most energy conscious buildings in the region. Whether it is the under floor air distribution system at the LEED Gold Certified Department of Revenue buildings, the state-of-the-art data center for the Leon County/City of Tallahassee Joint Public Saftey Complex, the chilled beams at FSU’s LEED Gold Johnson Building, the thermal energy storage system at the LEED Gold First District Court of Appeal building, the “Net-Zero” Leon County Sustainable Demonstration Center, or any of the other innovative projects we have engineered, energy efficiency is always a priority.
Our History
Founded as Hines, Hartman, & Associates in 1977 to provide mechanical and electrical engineering services to the North Florida market, we have grown to provide a variety of engineering services across the United States. In 2008 we introduced a new name, H2Engineering, keeping our roots but positioning ourselves to move forward.
For over 47 years we have provided clients with great service through relationships. We believe that no project is a success without the concerted effort of every team member; and the level of that success is proportional to the team’s ability to work together. The relationships we have and continue to build are the foundation of our success.
Our founding partner, Mike Hartman, has instilled these values in the company, and principals Matt Scaringe and Ryan Chewning continue to foster them as they steer the company into the future.
Our People
Our staff is large enough to handle complex projects and the rigid schedules common in today’s competitive market, yet flexible enough to provide individualized attention to even the smallest projects.
We strive to produce the most well trained staff of engineers and designers, understanding that in the end it is our personnel that is being hired. The diversity of our projects over the years has provided our engineers and designers invaluable experience that will benefit all clients. Continuing education, certifications, and in-house training are stressed so that we can provide the most accurate, current, and relevant engineering solutions.
